VW Camper Packing Tips

We have spent many months travelling around in our campers and know what you need to thrive, survive and hideaway in comfort.  If there is something that we have missed and you would like us to provide for your trip please ask.  Click here to see our the features of our vans and equipment that you can hire.  Here are a few tips for you to think about when packing, campers are not renowned for their walk in wardrobes -

Take it from a girl who knows, and who has made this mistake,  you won’t need those high-heeled shoes on a camping trip, bring some walking shoes or trainers for exploring and a pair or two of flip-flops, one for the beach and a sparkly pair for nights out if you feel the need

Sarongs double up as skirts or even dresses, and I use mine as a towel on the beach

Bikinis/swimsuits/board shorts are a must and you will end up living in yours so bring a couple, they don’t take up much space, also boys, bring a pair of speedos if you are planning on doing some swimming in a pool, board shorts are not allowed

A woolie hat and jumper is a good idea for those chilly moments in the night whilst you are chilling by the van

*pic of me in woolly hat and jumper last summer*

Jeans are a no no, they are too hot and take up too much space, swap them for a few pairs of linen trousers or a few dresses for the evenings

Kaftans are great and can be worn on the beach or out at night

A silk scarf is a great accessory, I use mine as a belt, a top, a wrap, a headscarf

Bring less underwear, if you are coming for 7 days you will not need 7 pairs, bring 3 and wash them if needs be as you will be wearing swimwear during the day so will only need them if you are going out at night

Don’t forget PJ’s or a t-shirt and joggers

Bring little bottles of toiletries, and wet wipes, they are invaluable

Sunscreen, sunglasses and  sun hat are all a must, and opt for a high level of sunscreen, at least factor 30

A camera and an iPod

And finally, a sense of humour and an appetite for adventure
